For frail aged and younger people with a disability, and their carers
within the Arabic, Farsi and other communities in the Illawarra.
Middle Eastern Day Care is funded by the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care to
provide a respite service for frail aged and younger people with a disability and their carers
within the Arabic speaking community in the Illawarra region. The program aims to provide the
following activities within a linguistically and culturally appropriate environment:
- Providing Halal food and praying facilities
- Accommodating for occasions during the fasting period
by providing no meat and vegetarian meals
- Respite for carers
- Bus trips and outings
- Health and Welfare Information
- Group activities such as backgammon, cards, crafts, etc
We celebrate religious events and birthdays, all in a culturally appropriate environment.
Transport is available if needed.
Referral Sources:
Referrals are accepted from family doctors, the Aged Care Assessment team and Health and
Community Workers, along with self-referrals.
Available support: Ongoing client and carer support
Contact and liaison with other aged care services

Client contributions are:
$5.00 for Morning Tea, Nutritious Healthy Lunch and Health Needs
$7.00 for Morning Tea, Nutritious Healthy Lunch and Health Needs + Transport
